10 Christmas movies

It’s no secret I’m a massive Christmas lover, with that said I absolutely love watching Christmas movies. I watch them all year and not just at Christmas time. There’s a lot of great Christmas movies out but I somehow managed to make a list of 10 that I think are the best ones. I can’t imagine a Christmas without watching all of these at least twice.

Let’s begin!

mv5bnmqzyjezytqtnznhzi00nmewlthizdmtmwyynjrmzwy0ztdkxkeyxkfqcgdeqxvymtqxnzmzndi-_v1_sy1000_cr006711000_al_Home Alone is a Christmas classic, it’s on telly every year and I always say there’s no Christmas without Home Alone. I think we all know what happens but I’m still going to put a little description.

Kevin is an 8 year old boy who gets left home alone while his family jets off to Paris for a holiday. His mum is desperately trying to get home to her youngest while he’s being the man of the house. Everything would be well if the calm neighborhood stayed calm during the holidays but Marv and Harry decide to do a bit of “business” while burglarizing the houses. They didn’t count on an 8 year old who has the house prepared with traps for them.

This is a great comedy with lots of laughs, even if you’re watching it for a 100th time.

mv5bndi1mzm0y2ytymiyms00ode3ltlhzjetztuynmezmtnhzwu5xkeyxkfqcgdeqxvymtqxnzmzndi-_v1_The sequel to famous Home Alone is Home Alone 2: Lost in New York.

It’s the same boy, only a year older and the same burglars. This time he’s not in his house but he flew to New York instead of Florida by mistake. Kevin checks in to Plaza hotel and spends his day as a tourist around New York and eating room service in his room.
Mark and Harry escaped jail and got to New York to rob a toy store. When Kevin runs into them and finds out, he’s determined to stop them. This time he sets traps at his Uncle’s and Aunt’s house that’s under construction while they live in Paris.

Once again a great holiday movie to watch with family or friends.

Alex is sick with Chickenpox and there’s a group of 4 criminals on his street breaking into houses and searching for a toy car with a computer chip that was taken by mistake at the airport. They don’t know that the car is in Alex’s possession. Alex sees the burglars and calls the police but they cover their tracks and no one believes him. When they find out where the toy car is they make a plan to get it back but Alex has already set the traps up. He’s younger than Kevin but his traps are a bit more brutal and hurtful. Alex’s team are his pet rat and his brother’s parrot.

This is my favourite movie out of all Home Alone’s.

Four Christmases is basically 4 Christmas movies with 4 different families rolled into one.

Brad and Kate are not your typical couple. They love each other but never plan to get married and/or have babies. every Christmas they go on a holiday away from their families but this year fog messes up their plans. They’re both children of divorced parents so they have to spend Christmas with all 4 of the parents and travel around to get from one house to the other. Each house is more dysfunctional than the other and they have a safe word between them to get away easier.

This is an amazing movie and if you’re not the biggest fan of family festivities at Christmas time, I think you’re going to love it.

mv5bmtqymdc5odg4nf5bml5banbnxkftztgwmzc2otiymte-_v1_Grinch is an absolute classic. I like the animated version way more than the actual movie.

Grinch is made after a children’s book and it tells a story about Grinch who hates Christmas and everything related to it. His heart is two sizes too small as the story goes. He decides to ruin Christmas for everyone in Whoville. He goes around and steals their Christmas trees, ornaments and presents.

It’s a short movie and you can find it on YouTube. I’m sure most of you have seen it but if you haven’t go and watch it because this really is a classic that everyone knows.

mv5bodhjzddhzmytzmvlns00zdewltlhmmetntu4ytq2zgnlnwvmxkeyxkfqcgdeqxvyntmwndqzoda-_v1_Shrek the Halls is a short movie with all the characters from the original film.

It’s Christmas time and Donkey is very excited about Christmas and he’s surprised that Shrek is not prepared for the holiday festivities. The truth is this is Shrek’s first Christmas, not just with Fiona and their children but in general. He and Fiona prepare the house for Christmas eve but when Donkey, Pussy in the Boots and whole gang comes to party, they almost ruin everything for Shrek.

The first time I watched this, I saw it with my mum and dad and I will never forget my mum laughing at some parts because they’re absolutely hilarious. This movie, like all Shrek’s, is great for a family movie night.

mv5bmtuxnda4otu4nl5bml5banbnxkftztcwmzqxodyymq-_v1_My mum read this book and told me about the story so I went out and found the movie.

It’s story about a married couple who live in a suburban neighborhood that always compete in street decorating competition with other streets in the neighborhood. This year, after their daughter Blair leaves the home, the Luther and Nora decide to “skip” Christmas and go on a cruise. They say no to Christmas decorations, holiday cards and every other thing that is a part of Christmas festivities. The real trouble begins when Blair calls on Christmas eve and tells them she’s coming home for Christmas. They have a day to get everything ready and festive.

Great movie with a lot of laughs.

mv5bmty4njq5ndc0nl5bml5banbnxkftztywnjk5ndm3-_v1_Love Actually is my absolute favourite Christmas movie of all time and probably one of my favourite movies in general. There are a lot of great British actors featured in the movie.

The movie follows different people and their stories in countdown to Christmas. They’re all connected is some way or the other. The stories of all the characters involve love is one way or the other. Some of them find their soulmate and some of them are already married so they discover the old feelings.
As the stories progress, Christmas is getting closer and closer and the festivities and Christmas mood is getting more and more present.

This movie is perfect to watch cuddled up on a sofa with a hot chocolate and/or a loved one.

mv5bmje4ntkyodk4nf5bml5banbnxkftztgwnjy0nzkxnze-_v1_sy1000_sx675_al_Love the Coopers is a new Christmas movie that came out just last year.

It’s a story told by a family dog. The story follows members of the Cooper family preparing for a Christmas eve dinner. Every one of them has their flaws and problems but they’re trying to hide the problems so that they could have a peaceful Christmas. As the story goes along we can see all the things currently troubling the family members. Once they all gather around the table, some of the things get revealed and a fight breaks out. In the middle of the fight, grandfather has to be rushed to the hospital and that event brings the family together and makes them forget about their own problems.

Amazing family movie that I’m happy is out this year so I can watch it more than once.

Rudolph the Red-Nosed reindeer is one of the first Christmas movies I ever saw. It’s a children Christmas movie that all the children love, I’m one of the children that loves it, still to this day.

It’s a story about a reindeer who’s dad is Santa’s reindeer. Rudolph has a red nose and gets teased about it throughout his life. The evil witch creates a really heavy blizzard so that Santa couldn’t fly out and deliver all the presents. Rudolph goes to rescue a girl he likes that got kidnapped by the witch. When they’re trying to get back home after their rescue mission, Rudolph discovers that his nose lights up and he can see easier on his way. Because of his lighting up nose, Santa makes him a head reindeer on his slades so they can fly out.

This is a classic movie for children but I’m sure that a lot of adults would enjoy watching it as well.

These are 10 movies I think are really worth watching at the Christmas time. Some of them are Children movies but that doesn’t make them any less great and worth watching. I hope you’ll have an amazing week in the lead up to Christmas and that you’re all feeling festive and joyful.
